Overview
Is the story you are living out of too small for your soul’s desire?
What God, what family, what social/ cultural historical story is framing your reality? Is it supporting you or restricting you? Are you a multi storied person or a person of one story? What story melds best with your core values? Are there new stories emerging in you?
The workshop will explore the power of story in shaping our identity.
We make sense of our lives through story: Stories we tell ourselves and stories others tell about us.
Presenter: Therese Hegarty
Therese Hegarty began as a primary school teacher working in a school in West Tallaght, for 24 years, supporting children who were struggling socially and emotionally at a time when unemployment was 80% and heroin was making itself felt. In order to make herself more effective, she trained as a systemic family therapist at Mater hospital/UCD and set up a practice in west Tallaght for 20 years. During that time, narrative therapy became central to her work, so she travelled to Australia to study with Michael White who was a seminal thinker at the time. She now gives workshops in narrative therapy to health care professionals and organizations throughout Ireland.
